Working with Addictions in Child and Family Work

This 1 day workshop will focus on working with addiction in child and family work. Alcohol and other drug problems may have a strong influence on the clients' level of participation and motivation. The workshop will give a brief overview of theories of addiction; the different drugs most commonly usedand the signs and symptoms of each; alcohol addiction and will overview the continuum ofrecreational, problematic & addictive drug use. The workshop will also focus on skills and strategiesfor child and family workers to use when these issues present.
