  • National Disability Insurance Scheme - Every Australian Counts

    27 January, 2012

    It’s our birthday!

Today we mark one year since we launched the Every Australian Counts campaign for the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Thanks to your hard work, we’re 100,000 supporters strong. We’ve held groundbreaking national events and built a case for the creation of the NDIS in every corner of our nation.

Now it’s time to turn community support for the NDIS into a political reality.

Will you ask your federal MP to show they are behind the NDIS?

In 2012 we want to make the NDIS real - and we have made a list of what we need to get done.

We want to build campaign support to 200,000 people. We want to see the National Disability Insurance Agency legislated, and launch sites announced.

To make this happen, we need to build on our political support.

So far 84 of our Federal MPs have said "I count" and appeared in a campaign “I Count” photo. But there are 66 - more than one-third - who we are waiting on, and the clock is ticking.

Find out if your MP needs to have a photo taken here. If they are yet to show their support, you can find out how to help here.

This year, we will need to reach out to our friends, family members, work colleagues and neighbours to build broad-based community support for the NDIS.

So while you’re checking on your MP, take a minute to ask a friend to join the campaign so we reach our goal of 200,000 supporters by the end of the year.

We’ll be in touch soon with more on how you can help make the NDIS real in 2012.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

    Yours,

    John Della Bosca
