A MESSAGE FROM NCOSS CEO
Our Post-Budget Breakfast was a well-attended but sombre affair – not surprising given the low priority in the budget for those doing it tough. You can find our analysis here
A key focus was the 1.75% indexation which will necessitate service reductions and clients turned away. Peak bodies have jointly written to the Premier, Treasurer and relevant Ministers highlighting these impacts and the need for indexation to at least match the mandated 3% wage increase.
We have also developed resources for member organisations to take the matter up locally. Your local MPs will understand what service cuts mean to the community and local media often has a strong interest in these issues. You can find a shell media release and a letter to your local MP template on our website. Now is the time to take action!
During NAIDOC week we celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are reminded of the lack of constitutional recognition and a voice to Parliament for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The unique place that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have both in our history and in our contemporary society needs to be formally recognised as well as celebrated.
Voice. Treaty. Truth.
