The Macarthur Real Estate Engagement Project is 

The Macarthur Real Estate Engagement Project was launched in February 2012 by Bryan Doyle MP, Member for Campbelltown.  The purpose of the project is to provide supports to new and existing tenants of Real Estate agents to help prevent them from entering the homelessness service system and to develop mutually beneficial relationships between Real Estate agents and services that work with the homeless and disadvantaged.

•Referral paperwork completed by Real Estate agent and sent to either
•Fax to (02) 4628 4754
•If the tenant is under 25 The Drum will take on the referral.
•If the tenant is over 25 St.Vincent Depaul will take on the referral.
•The worker will then assess needs of client. Looking at needs such as income requirements
•Real estates within the Macarthur region
•Current tenants residing within the Macarthur Region where;
–A tenant is consistently behind with their rent
–Complaints from neighbours about a tenant
–A tenant is consistently showing signs of stress and not coping.
•Getting crisis payments if you are behind in your rent
•Emergency help such as household goods
•Getting help in managing your money better
•Linking you with a range of services that could help you, such as getting work and family support
•Information about Centrelink benefits
•Help in applying for public housing
•In our first 3 months of operation:
•64 referrals from Real Estate Agents
•17 tenancies saved
•12 clients referred to ongoing support.
•This means that 29 tenants were not evicted. Saving these tenancies decreased stress for both tenants and agents and saved everyone time and money!
