The Federal Minister for Urban Infrastructure, Paul Fletcher, has announced that the Australian and NSW Governments are working on a joint scoping study into the rail needs of Western Sydney and the Western Sydney Airport. The study will be informed by a discussion paper, which will be released in the coming weeks.
The recommendation to undertake a comprehensive assessment into the transport needs of residents in Western Sydney, particularly the needs of communities experiencing transport disadvantage, was highlighted by our membership and included in Western Sydney Community Forum’s submission on the Draft Environmental Impact Assessment and Draft Airport Plan the proposed Western Sydney Airport in December 2015.
Western Sydney Community Forum will be providing comment on the discussion paper once it is released. We are inviting our membership to provide feedback on the transport needs of Western Sydney and the Western Sydney Airport through a number of surveys which will be rolled out over the coming weeks.
