On Tuesday 30 May, the NSW Government announced that they will defer the decision to collect the Fire and Emergency Services Levy via Council Rate notices and will therefore continue to collect the emergency services funding via insurance policies until the NSW Government has completed a review of the funding process.

What this means to our residents

It means that the levy will not be included on your rates notice in July this year and the NSW Government will work with the local government, fire and emergency services, the insurance industry and other stakeholders to find a better and fairer path forward.
