It is two weeks until the annual Volunteering NSW State Conference and with 20 speakers discussing the latest sector research and strategies, tools for how to measure volunteering impact and volunteering success stories – I am confident the day will be inspiring and practical in equal measure.
In The Voice this month you will find information on grants open to the sector as well as information on how to save money on your electricity bills.
The Federal Budget was a disappointment on a number of levels: Not only was the economic and social contribution of the millions of volunteers not recognised, the Government seems intent on the path of eradicating the $7m funding for the volunteering support services that underpin the sector. However, our national campaign to reverse this decision continues – see our news on the #TowerofStrength petition later in this edition.
The Office of the Children’s Guardian is calling for submissions responding to the Statutory Review of the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 Discussion Paper.
And finally, don’t forget to get nominations in for the NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards.
